Mörrum strengthens wood supply from Baltic States
Södra Cell Mörrum is expanding its supply of raw material to include softwood from the Baltic States.
Södra Cell Mörrum is expanding its supply of raw material to include softwood from the Baltic States. Mörrum has been using Baltic hardwood for several years now but was previously only sourcing softwood from southern Sweden. However, since Värö’s major expansion, more of the Swedish softwood has been redirected to Värö, which makes logistical sense, and Mörrum is beside Mönsterås the best-placed mill strategically to receive wood from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania.
“We already have very successful partnerships in the Baltic States importing hardwood to Mörrum,” explains Eva Thuresson, Södra Cell’s Sustainability Information Manager, “and this new source of supply for softwood makes perfect sense, both strategically and to ensure greater security of supply in the future.”
