A short note on Ukraine
Our thoughts remain with the people of Ukraine whose country has been devasted by the current conflict. With little sign of the political situation improving, we fear that the impact of war on global supply chains and the world’s economy will continue to be negative in the short to medium term.
We have already seen soaring global commodity and energy prices drive up inflation, and we expect input costs to continue to rise over the coming months. For Södra, this includes process chemicals such as bleaching chemicals and defoamers, for example, with prices having doubled over a period of months, as well as increasing competition for members’ wood (see separate article).
This is a difficult climate for just about everyone. We remain committed to business as usual and to finding solutions to the challenges we face with minimal disruption to our customers.
