Integrated forestry pays dividends

It’s been a tough few months on our estates, but our foresters have gone the extra mile to maintain a secure supply of wood to our pulp mills.

Sofia Petersson, Södra’s Wood Supply Manager: “Our wood supply has been very challenging this season. Heavy rain last autumn and into early winter made harvesting difficult and put extra demands on our transport capacity. February and March brought heavy snow, restricting daily supplies from the forest, some days by 50-60%. During this time, we increased train and boat freight from our forests to our pulp mills and we managed to keep the mills at full production capacity.  Now we’re working hard to increase wood volumes and our transport capacity to secure the coming season.”
