High groundwater levels following a wet and mild autumn and winter are creating challenges for wood supplies. Effective planning has kept wood deliveries on schedule in most areas, with only minor industrial disruptions.
“However, weather conditions over the past few months have affected deliveries to our mills. Production levels are high and demand is stable at our mills. During the autumn and winter period, however, our logistics planning has experienced major challenges. Wherever possible, we are choosing sites close to major road networks to minimise driving on forest roads. Our sawmills have experienced minor disruptions in the form of short production stoppages, but we are working hard to minimise the effects. This will require a great deal of planning and communication from everyone involved until we see the end of these weather conditions,” said Sofia Petersson, Acting Wood Supply Manager at Södra Skog.
