Digitalisation: Fast forward to the future

Södra Cell Mörrum Sandra Månsson

What will the pulp mill of the future look like? We aim to be among the first to find out. Digitalisation is already an important part of Södra's Group strategy on sustainable and profitable growth in a changing world. Now our pulp mills are collaborating with ABB to further strengthen performance, efficiency and sustainability.

The  agreement, which came into force in September, is the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between Södra and ABB. Together we will lead the way in a digital transformation which will aim to create a new standard for both the forest and pulp industry and the broader industry globally.

"This will lift the efficiency of our business to new levels and create an even more attractive workplace that is characterized by continuous learning for this and the next generation of employees," commented Magnus Björkman, Business Area Manager at Södra Cell.

Thomas Håkansson, Technology Development Manager at Södra Cell: "This gives us the opportunity, together with ABB's combined development and global resources, to increase the degree of digitalisation in our mills according to the roadmap we have developed. But also, to get input and inspiration from additional perspectives, including other industries."

“This collaboration with Södra is an excellent example of how our digital portfolio, together with our experience of collaboration and support in the industry, can help mills reach new heights of efficiency," said Björn Jonsson, Hub Manager, Process Industries at ABB.
