Another link forged in our logistics chain

Södra has signed an agreement with Italian logistics firm Astolfo which will strengthen the service offering for customers from the strategically-important inland Treviso terminal.

Riccardo Bonacasa, Sales Administrator, explains: “We have worked closely with Astolfo for many years, but the company’s role was mainly as a forwarder for our pulp. However, we have seen this family business grow with us over the years and offer a premium service that impressed us. We have not received a single claim from customers whose pulp has been handled by the company – in about 17 years! They have expanded their covered warehousing facilities which means we can count on our pulp being stored to the standards we need and we trust Astolfo to deliver a premium service from Treviso to our customers’ mill gates, not just in Italy but in Eastern Europe too: Treviso is the point at which two major rail transport routes, Brenner and Tarvisio, converge.”

Anders Ripström, Södra’s Sourcing Manager, Logistics and Transport, adds that the direct-access agreement will form the basis to develop future services between Astolfo and Södra. It also means that Södra is guaranteed warehouse space in Astolfo’s recently expanded and upgraded facilities. Anders: “This partnership with Astolfo is an important move strategically in our efforts to maximise efficiency and service in our supply chain in this part of Europe. For our customers, it means peace of mind - knowing we have secured the best partners that we can to take optimum care of the pulp they order from us.”
