For a green conscience, choose Conscious delivery

Agata Andersson, Project Manager Södra Sustainability, says that Conscious delivery is a great example of partnership with a view to lowering fossil-based emissions. “Our customers’ goals are our goals. This initiative is about reducing emissions in the logistics chain by minimising the consumption of fossils fuels used to deliver our pulp to our customers. 

“Signing up for Conscious delivery means agreeing that we need to work together to find the solutions that will lower fossil-based emissions in the logistics chain. There will be different solutions depending on the destination, some routes will be easier than others to solve, and those where a physical solution is not possible could involve mass balance or biofuel insetting alternatives. We introduce a corresponding amount of biofuel in the logistics chain but not on that specific route.

“We still have challenges, not least that this is new ground and fossil-free fuels are still limited, but we need to do this for the benefit of everyone in the value chain – us, our customers, and of course, the planet. We have pledged to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 50 percent by 2030 compared with 2020 as part of our Science-Based Targets and to eventually reach net zero. This means a lot of different actions, from energy efficiency and system changes from electrification to fuel substitution, changing logistic setups and supplier collaboration. When we lower our emissions, we lower our customers’ emissions too. The more consciously we can deliver, and the more customers buy into the concept, the bigger the reduction in emissions and the greater the contribution we will make to a more sustainable future.”
