Södra Bioproducts reflects growing potential of trees
Södra has restructured to reflect the growing importance of its bioproducts for the future. The business development, sales and marketing of all bioproducts produced across Södra’s various business areas will be coordinated under the Södra Bioproducts umbrella that now stands as a new product area.
“The move reflects Södra’s strategic perspective which is to harness the value in every part of the tree that we can,” comments Johannes Bogren, Vice President of Södra Bioproducts. “This isn’t at the expense of our traditional markets but is an added driver to maximise the potential of the forest. We want nothing of this precious resource to go to waste and we are keen to be pioneers when it comes to a range of sustainable solutions from the forest, from bioenergy to biochemicals.
“For customers, the move will help us enhance our customer offering. Everyone is working on the transition to a fossil-free future and every percentage point we can all move away from fossil-based materials is a step closer to a more sustainable society. We see huge potential for the forest. It will now be clear to customers that we can help them achieve their own sustainability goals and Science Based Targets in more than one way. Some pulp customers are already buying solid biofuels from us, for example. This move will make our sales channels and communication much more transparent. Customers who span several segments, such as the local municipality in Varberg which buys our district heating but also pellets and bark, will now have one route in to talk to us rather than the current three.
“Internally, the new structure will help us consolidate our efforts, because all these products are connected, from pellets and tall oil to district heating.”
