OnceMore®: From strength to strength


Last year was a busy one for the OnceMore® team, as our pioneering dissolving pulp with recycled content continued to attract attention.

Launched in October 2019, OnceMore® is the world’s first large-scale process for recycling blended fabrics. The process combines post-consumer textile waste with wood from responsibly managed forests to produce a high-quality dissolving  pulp which performs as well as traditional viscose. In 2023 the team focused on creating further collaborations throughout the complex textile value chain in addition to developing the OnceMore® brand. The hard work is paying off: Partnership with the Swedish fashion brand Lindex continues, with one million garments based on OnceMore® produced so far. Partnerships with Bestseller and JACK&JONES are continuing too with both launching new styles based on OnceMore®. VILA (another Bestseller brand) is following with garments in the stores very soon. Filippa K was a new partnership for 2023 with a capsule collection that hit the stores in early December. 

In early summer, the EU LIFE scheme awarded Södra and Lenzing 10 million euros to develop and scale up the OnceMore process®

“We are delighted with the progress we’ve made in just four years,” says Angeline Elfström, Business Development Manager OnceMore®, “both in terms of the market and technologically. Interest is growing all the time. When we launched, we had a product containing 3% recycled textiles. In just four years we have increased that number to 20%. We are on a journey. We’ve come a long way in a short space of time, but this is just the beginning.”
