At Mönsterås, we also produce district heating and pine oil which is converted into biodiesel. The mill is surrounded by raw materials grown by our members in a forestry region close to Kalmar Sound, some 10 kilometres from Mönsterås. The location is strategic, close to European highway 22, with Södra’s own harbour alongside the mill and the sawmill next door.

Mönsterås has started up a 5,000-tpy biomethanol plant, the first of its kind in the world.
We’re on track to make our woodyard the most digitally advanced in Europe by the end of 2020.
We gladly host tours of our pulp mill and sawmill in Mönsterås, as long as our production schedule allows it.
