People behind the pulp Emma Larsson Maintenance Manager

We take a closer look at some of the 56,193 people behind a sheet of Södra pulp. This month, its Emma Larsson, Maintenance Engineer.

Usually, I work as a Maintenance Mechanic. But for the moment I am managing our maintenance system, keeping it up to date and making sure that we always have the necessary equipment and spare parts available so that production can always run smoothly. My working day usually starts with checking the status of our ongoing maintenance projects and other assignments. Then I go to the mill floor to talk to my colleagues. Usually, this is where I pick up issues that need resolving, and where I learn the most about our operations.

I’m organized and rather curious. I like to know how different things work. I’ve been interested in machinery and engineering ever since school, and I’m actually trained in marine engineering. But then I had kids and decided that working on land would probably be more convenient. And just like a ship, Södra is a place where everything and everyone must work together to move forward.

For me, freedom is the best thing about working for Södra. I never have to think about finding another employer, since I’m always being encouraged to develop my skills and take on new challenges. And even though Södra employs a lot of people, everyone gets seen and treated as an individual.
