Trainees – the stars of the future
The future of Södra is in their hands – or at least they have the chance to make a big impact. This year saw 14 people start our trainee programme. Seeking to develop their careers and contribute to a society with reduced dependence on fossil fuels, they each bring a varied knowledge bank which will be further developed for application in areas such as strategy, innovation, sustainability and leadership.
During their induction, the trainees paid a visit to Södra’s sawmill in Orrefors, which enabled them to see different parts of the business in action, such as IT, safety, strategy and of course the operation of the sawmill itself.
The trainee programme lasts for 18 months and is structured in modules which enables participants to rotate between the four business areas: Södra Skog, Södra Cell, Södra Wood and Södra Innovation. During this time, supported by a manager and mentor, trainees learn everything about Södra’s value chain, from seed to end consumer.
By combining the skills of individuals with a global understanding of Södra, we create a whole which is greater than the sum of its parts.
