Sustainable improvement at Mönsterås

Södra and the pulp and paper industry as a whole have ambitious targets for a fossil-free future, finding fossil-free alternative chemicals is one aspect. The use of a fossil-free defoamer at Mörrum and Värö has already been highly successful. Now we take the next step – a trial in Mönsterås.

We are now ready to go “live” at Mönsterås with a shorter test period during Q2 in 2025 followed by implementation later in the year. A trial plan can be found below.

Planned trial in June 2025

Mönsterås will run a trial with the new fossil-free defoamer at the earliest starting week 24 of 2025. The trial will last for approximately 7 days, and we will monitor all relevant data. We will also send samples or trial volumes to all customers who need or want to analyse the pulp. Södra´s Technical Product Manager can be contacted for sample requests.

Full-scale implementation

If feedback from the trial is positive, we plan to implement this new fossil-free defoamer later in the year. We will notify our customers before going live.
