Foreword: Onwards and outwards
When I took on the role of Head of Business Development in 2022, this was a new position which called for a broad perspective. Having lead the global sales team for Paper Pulp, I now look at wider opportunities for Södra Cell’s development and improvement, both internal and external. I liaise across all aspects of our offering from raw material procurement from our members, through Sales and Logistics to Innovation and Customer Experience.
We had emerged from the pandemic with a sense that it was more important than ever to find new and efficient ways of working. In the current climate of heightened uncertainty about global trade flows, efficiency and responsiveness matter.
Working more efficiently means delivering greater value for our customers. A good example of this is the SMI 2.0. concept where we seek to work alongside our customers to manage their inventory for smoother control of stock and supply. We share forecasts and consumption reports and deliveries can be tracked in real time.
I’m a big believer in the value of cross-functional working across our organisation, because we are all connected and working for the same goal, which is to be the supplier of choice. It’s why I work closely with Hannah Stenberg, Customer Experience Manager, and the Sales team, so that we can join the dots when it comes to meeting customer needs and developing our Sales roadmap 2030.
We see ourselves more as a partner than a supplier and we’re proud of the loyal customer base we have nurtured through long-term strategic cooperation. In difficult market conditions, understanding the bigger picture and our customers’ perspective is imperative. We can’t predict Trump’s next tariff announcement or slow climate change by ourselves, but close collaboration is a good start when we’re called to manage the unpredictable.
