Smartt acquisition in strategic market

Having previously held partial ownership in Smartt Timber b.v. Södra has acquired all the shares in the company, which has served as a successful sales channel for Södra Wood in the Netherlands and Belgium for many years.
The Netherlands is a strategically important market for Södra, where it has maintained a leading position over a long period. By the acquisition, Södra has shown its long-term commitment to the market and elevated its business to the next level, enhancing the customer offer even further.
Operations will continue as usual, with the acquisition affecting neither customers nor employees. Robert Jan de Waard, previous co-owner, continues as CEO of the company while Ronald Rijswijk remains as sales and purchasing manager.
"Södra has been a fantastic partner, and it feels natural that the ownership now transitions to them. The collaboration between Södra and Smartt has always worked very well. I am grateful for the expertise and experience we have created together over the years. Our customers can rest assured that Södra will continue providing the same strong offer with excellent service and high-quality products as we have for years. The sales contact will also remain the same," said Robert Jan de Waard.
"Through the acquisition, we have the opportunity to increase and improve our local market presence and thereby also expand our offering to different market segments and customers in the Netherlands and Belgium," said Södra Wood's Sales and Marketing Director Andreas Jonasson.
