Resource efficiency in action
It’s almost time for the summer break in Sweden. The first six months have not been without challenge - Trump’s imposition of trade tariffs, ongoing conflicts, a tight wood market and impending legislation, to name but some. As always, the importance of long-standing customer relations and close cooperation comes to the fore in moments of difficulty and uncertainty, and we remain ever grateful for our loyal customer base.

Regardless of market fluctuations, there are always constants: We continue to work towards our Science-Based Targets, maximise our resource efficiency and optimise product quality and customer experience.
At present, the pulp market cycle is against us and prices are low. For suppliers with a limited portfolio, this can be challenging. In our case, however, the possibilities from every tree are growing. Our pulp mills are now biorefineries, and the growing product portfolio contributes to increasing competitiveness. Fossil-free products, from green energy and biomethanol to tall oil and turpentine, in addition to our broad portfolio of pulps for a wide range of paper and textile applications is our way forward. We have started to build a kraft lignin plant at Mönsterås. When it starts up in 2027, this will be the first commercial plant of its kind in Sweden and the largest kraft lignin facility in the world.
Seeking fossil-free solutions to help mitigate climate change makes environmental sense, but business sense too. Wood is becoming an increasingly valuable commodity and no part of the tree can be wasted. Our pulp mills are now excellent examples of resource efficiency in action, extracting the most value we can from our members’ forests and strengthening our long-term profitability and competitiveness.
A diverse product base ensures we are less vulnerable to the peaks and troughs of individual market cycles. It means we can guarantee our customers long-term security of supply backed by a reliable source of raw material from our members’ forests.
So enjoy your summer, safe in the knowledge that our mills never rest. They will be running 24/7 throughout the year and far beyond. We are here for the long term and looking forward to adding value to your business, whatever the rest of the year may bring.
