Fastwater launches – the pilot boat that will run on biomethanol
On 14 December, Johannes Bogren will speak at the online launch of Fastwater’s pilot boat which will be its first to run on biomethanol. He joins a prestigious line-up of speakers, including members of the Swedish National Parliament, Johan Büser and Anders Hansson.
The latter will deliver the keynote speech, recognizing the importance of finding more sustainable alternatives for shipping. Johannes will introduce biomethanol as ‘the Swedish forest, in liquid form’. There will also be presentations explaining the MD 97 methanol engine, the pilot conversion process, green methanol production in Sweden, and more, as well as a chance to see the methanol-propelled pilot boat in action.
Södra’s achievement in biomethanol production is going from strength to strength and we are committed to helping the shipping industry find more sustainable solutions for the future that do not depend on fossil-based fuels. Fastwater’s pilot project is an exciting development towards this vision, and we are delighted to be participating.
