Södra part of the European Commission's inspections in the wood pulp sector
On 12 October 2021, the European Commission conducted unannounced inspections at the premises of several companies active in the wood pulp sector, including Södra. The Commission’s suspicions concern the pricing of softwood pulp. Södra is cooperating fully and supporting the Commission in its investigation, but cannot comment further on the ongoing process further.
Unannounced inspections are a preliminary step in a competition law investigation. The fact that the Commission is carrying out such inspections does not mean that the companies being investigated are guilty of anti-competitive behavior nor does it prejudice the outcome of the investigation itself.
