How was Södra Blue S developed?

Developed through more than ten years of research into utilizing residual streams and tested in pilot-scale pulp production.

What are the benefits of using agricultural residues in pulp production?

Södra offers a pulp made from local agricultural residues and sustainable forest raw material, where the new blend means that more pulp can be produced from each tree harvested from members' forests. This contributes to an even more resource-efficient circular flow.

What is the alternative use of agricultural?

The residues are typically used for biogas production and animal feed (we will not compete for those volumes). Some of the residues are left on the field and used for soil improvement.

Is it suitable for food contact?

The Agropulp will be tested for food contact, and we expect it to be food contact compliant.

Is Södra blue S certified FSC Mix and PEFC?

Yes. It can be FSC Mix and/or PEFC subject to agreement with Södra. Blue S is regarded as neutral in both FSC and PEFC systems
