Sports hall at Västerstrand school

About the project

The new sports hall at Västerstrand School was completed in 2019. Wood was selected as an important part of the interior design. Södra supplied heat-treated pine, partly fire-retardant treated, for the interior cladding – offering a solution that combines natural aesthetics with high standards of functionality and safety.

Wood helps create a warm and welcoming environment where students and staff can thrive. The natural variation in colour and structure brings life and character to the space while creating a strong connection to nature. In an environment such as a sports hall, where many people gather every day, it is important that materials are both durable and contribute to a pleasant indoor climate.

The heat-treated pine is a sustainable and dimensionally stable material, while the fire-retardant treatment enables its use in public environments with strict fire safety requirements. Wood also has natural sound-absorbing properties, which can contribute to an improved acoustic environment in larger sports and assembly spaces.

Facade, interior cladding, and special requests

We meet needs on request and respond to requirements, for example, if a facade is to be used for a building with specific environmental standards or if it needs to meet specific fire requirements. Södra's project department has high product knowledge and long experience.
