Service office in Borås built with CLT

Together with RO-Gruppen, Södra has delivered cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glulam to the extension of the City of Borås service office at the Pantängen industrial area. The timber structure is visible in several parts of the building through exposed CLT in offices and staff areas, contributing to a comfortable indoor environment. The building also features two staircases constructed in CLT.

About the project

The delivery was carried out in collaboration with RO-Gruppen, which has become a key player in the development of CLT construction in western Sweden.

“We have chosen to work with Södra in this and several previous projects because of their strong collaborative approach and understanding of the value of the end product for the property owner. Together, we have optimised both the structure and the deliveries, which in turn has enabled a reduced climate impact for the project,” says Pierre Svedberg, Business Area Manager, RO-Gruppen Södra Älvsborg.

During the construction, full weather protection was also used to safeguard the structure from moisture.

“Thanks to the building’s design, it was ideal to use full weather protection. We were able to drive the deliveries into the enclosure, unload under cover and keep the material dry before assembling both storeys in stages. This ensured a smooth installation process and resulted in a safe, moisture-protected and efficient build,” says Johannes Johansson, Site Manager, RO-Gruppen Södra Älvsborg.

The 2,000-square-metre extension has added 70 workplaces to the service office and was completed in the summer of 2024.

Our offer

Build smart. Make less impact.

We offer processed elements in cross-laminated timber (CLT) for structural construction. Building with CLT results in lower climate impact compared to fossil-based construction materials, as it consists of a renewable resource and stores carbon dioxide.
