Södra discontinues member electricity – strengthens long-term partnership with Jämtkraft
Södra is discontinuing its consumer electricity business and developing a new long-term partnership with Jämtkraft. Customers are offered to retain their current contract terms with electricity from Södra’s production facilities, now as direct customers of Jämtkraft.
“Through our collaboration with Jämtkraft, we can offer our members a sustainable and future-proof electricity solution, while giving them access to a broader and more flexible range of energy services. For Södra, this means we can focus on our core business – creating value from the forest and its renewable raw material,” says Henrik Brodin, Chair of Medlemsel.
Södra has long collaborated with Jämtkraft in electricity trading, where Jämtkraft has been responsible for both administration and customer service for Medlemsel. As the service is now being phased out, the partnership is being further developed, meaning that existing customers are offered new electricity contracts directly with Jämtkraft. Jämtkraft will take over all customer contact and administration, while the electricity will continue to come from Södra’s own facilities. To ensure that the electricity is renewable and produced by Södra, Jämtkraft will purchase electricity certificates from Södra’s production.
For Södra, this change means a clearer focus on its core business. At the same time, it ensures that electricity from our facilities continues to benefit members through a reliable and sustainable energy offering in collaboration with an established partner.
