Together we create fossil-free solutions with tannin
After launching our tannin project, we are now taking the next step. Production is planned to start in 2026, but we can already supply sample material for commercial testing. We are looking for more partners who want to continue exploring the potential of tannin – both within the leather industry and in entirely new applications.
From one tree, a thousand possibilities grow. At Södra, our goal is clear for all our products: to create sustainable alternatives to fossil-based materials. Now, we are ready to move from concept to reality with our tannin.
Tannin is a plant-based tanning agent with excellent antioxidant properties. This makes it ideal for leather tanning, but we also see exciting opportunities in other fields – where tannin’s antioxidant and cross-linking properties can make a real difference.
