We invest in innovation and research that can contribute to the climate transition

Södra invests in research and innovation that can contribute to the climate transition – in the short, medium and long term. Through our six innovation areas, Södra's Research Foundation and collaborative projects such as The Bridge, new knowledge about forests, materials and sustainable resource use is developed.

Södra is driving innovation in six areas: forestry, wood products, paper, textiles, chemicals and energy – to create the greatest possible benefit for the climate transition. It is about short, medium and long-term development.

Södra's Research Foundation

For more than 35 years, the Södra Research Foundation has awarded funding to hundreds of innovation projects. Each year, SEK 10–20 million is awarded in grants for research on family forestry and forest industry activities in southern Sweden.

The collaboration project the Bridge

The Bridge is a collaborative project between Södra, Linnaeus University (LNU) and IKEA. The project aims to develop new knowledge and innovation linked to forests, materials and sustainability. Through collaboration between business and research, ideas and solutions are tested that can contribute to a more sustainable use of forest resources.
