Diverse forestry
Applications open until: 6 November 2026
Diverse forestry creates forests with a variety of structures, characteristics and values, which is important for family forestry and forest industry operations in southern Sweden. Greater variation across the forest landscape can contribute to biodiversity, recreational and aesthetic values, and strengthen forests’ resilience to a changing climate. At the same time, diverse forestry can contribute to a stable and diversified raw material base, strengthening the conditions for future value creation in the forest industry.
Further research is needed to develop diverse forestry and strengthen knowledge of its different values. This includes research into how different forest management practices affect forest development and how they can be adapted to support different objectives. Key research areas include how aesthetic and recreational values can be enhanced, how biodiversity can be promoted through effective and well-targeted nature conservation measures, and how forest management needs to adapt to a future climate. Of particular interest is research that develops methods for measuring, quantifying and monitoring biodiversity and other effects of diverse forestry, enabling different values to be described and compared in a cost-effective and reliable way.
We welcome your application by 6 November!
