BioGlue Centre a global investment
Around a quarter of global adhesive production is used in furniture manufacturing, wood-based building materials, and packaging, which is why we’re part of the BioGlue-Centre initiative. A unique global effort with the goal of developing fossil-free glue based on renewable materials to reduce climate impact.
109 Million in investment
Replacing fossil-based adhesives with bio-based and fossil-free alternatives has long been a challenge within the industry. That’s why, along with our project partners and contributions from Vinnova, we’re collectively investing 109 million SEK over five years to advance the development of fossil-free glue.
Together we increase the pace
At Södra, we’ve been researching the possibilities for fossil-free, bio-based glue from the forest’s sidestreams for years. Through collaboration within BioGlue-Centre, we can speed up our development work and together create solutions that benefit both the environment and the industry.
It’s an important project for several reasons. We want to add to the knowledge bank about bio-based glue and advance research to develop bio-based adhesives. We also want to work together with other partners in the value chain, such as glue manufacturers and users, to better understand their needs and explain our own.
