Inspections finalized at Södra’s headquarters

On 12 October 2021, the European Commission initiated unannounced inspections at the premises of several companies active in the wood pulp sector, including Södra. The Commission’s investigation concern the pricing of softwood pulp. On 15 October, the inspections were finalized at Södra’s headquarters in Växjö.

Södra’s code of conduct makes clear statements to all employees not to engage in anti-competitive cooperations or actions, and the company cooperates fully with the authorities to achieve a correct process. The investigation is at an initial stage and Södra cannot comment further on the ongoing process.

Unannounced inspections are a preliminary step in a competition law investigation and does not mean that the companies being investigated are guilty of anti-competitive behavior nor does it prejudice the outcome of the investigation itself.
