Foreword: Fit for the future

We all know the market today is particularly tough. High input costs, weak demand, intense competition for wood, trade flow disruptions, currency fluctuations, geopolitical tension, we face all these issues and more, and we’re not alone.

We’re taking some difficult decisions to ensure that we remain competitive. Cost efficiency is just one aspect of the plan to future-proof our position. Smart, strategic investments such as the new lignin plant at Mönsterås and the sawmill line at Kisa will continue, because they are key to extracting the maximum value from every member’s tree.

With this in mind, we intend to continue our focus on expanding all the possibilities we can from the forest, such as tannin, biomethanol and lignin, which are only viable because of our state-of-the-art pulp mills. Pulp is at the core of our strategic positioning for the future and will remain so.

We’ll continue to invest in technology, innovation, new products and more efficient ways of working, including AI and digitalisation, while at the same time improving cross-functional synergies.

We’re working hard to ensure we remain a supplier of choice across our wide range of softwood pulps. We intend to intensify our focus on service, quality and premium performance, increasing the collaboration with customers to ensure that what we produce is what the market needs.
