Frequently asked questions

What are the benefits of using agricultural residues in pulp production?

Södra offers a pulp made from local agricultural residues and sustainable forest raw material, where the new blend means that more pulp can be produced from each tree harvested from members' forests. This contributes to an even more resource-efficient circular flow.

What is FiberSafe®?

FiberSafe® is our environmentally and user-friendly paper strapping made from pulp. An alternative to steel baling wires, FiberSafe®  eliminates the need for a dewiring station. Another advantage of paper strapping is that it keeps the workplace cleaner and helps customers avoid the risk of metal residues entering the process.

Is the pulp certified with PEFC or FSC®?

Yes, the pulp is certified for both PEFC and FSC®. As family foresters within
Södra we are committed to responsible forest management. Our membership, comprising many small-scale forest farmers with diverse ideas and targets,
contributes to highly varied and diverse forest characteristics.
A key tool for sustainable forestry is certification, which is why about 70 percent of our
members hold PEFC and/or FSC® certifications.
