It is very important to ensure that the forests are managed sustainably.There’s increasing number of end users of forest-based products who prefer certified products.

In Europe, forest certification has become an important part of forest management. Currently, about 10% of the world's forests are certified, including about half of the forest area of ​​Western Europe. The products of SÖDRA group companies (including pulp, sawn timber and energy wood) are produced from forest raw materials of certified and controlled sources. SÖDRA products are certified according to FSC® and/or PEFC standards. This means that the raw materials for production come from responsibly and sustainably managed forests as well as from controlled sources and the origin of this wood can be proven.

Södra Metsad OÜ forests in Estonia are certified in accordance with PEFC forest management standard and FSC Control Wood forest management standard. For pulpwood trade Södra Metsad OÜ is certified by the FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody standards.
