Improved seedling survival
BraSatt can raise the chances of a seedling surviving after planting to at least 90 percent compared with 70 percent using traditional planting methods. This is achieved through smart scarification where the machine creates an optimal planting point and positions the seedling to get the best possible start in the forest.

User centered
BraSatt works alongside humans, creating a good working environment and a more interesting job. Man and machine work together.

Red Dot Design Award
BraSatt was recognised in the Red Dot Awards 2024, one of the world's most important design competitions, with an award in the Autonomous "Best-of-the-Best" category for its design.

What is BraSatt?
BraSatt is a driverless machine that uses the latest technology to scarify and plant forest seedlings with precision, efficiency, and care. An autonomous planting machine that will benefit growth in the forest.
With the help of AI, sensors and other new technology, BraSatt can take over the heavy and difficult forestry operations that humans find difficult. Seedlings planted by BraSatt have a better chance of survival, boosting growth in the forest.

Smaller footprint, better results
An autonomous planting machine like BraSatt has less impact on the soil through precision scarification, where only small areas are processed instead of large clear-cut areas. It is both more gentle and energy-efficient compared to today's methods.
BraSatt is less invasive and yields better results through smarter planting and scarification.

Prototype already exists
BraSatt already exists as a prototype, and we’re working on developing the machine to ensure it meets our investment goals. We’ve developed a new energy-efficient way of scarifying that produces optimal results for the seedling and leaves a relatively even clear-cut area behind which is significantly smaller compared to today's method.
Another important part of the development work has been looking at the interaction between humans and machines, with considerable attention paid to the operator's role and a good working environment.
We hope BraSatt will open the door to promoting the development of autonomous forestry machines to improve both growth rates and the forest environment.
