We work safely or not at all
We work tirelessly to create a workplace and organisation that is healthy, sustainable and free from harm, for everyone from members and employees to contractors. We work safely or not at all.
Zero vision for workplace injuries
No one should risk their health at work, and one workplace injury is one too many. Our safety work never stops, and we have a zero vision for workplace injuries. We maintain the vision that every accident and all ill health can be prevented and we try to ensure that our working environment is moving continually closer towards our zero vision.
Safe member
Södra has implemented many measures over the years to reduce risks associated with working in the forest, such as providing forest owners with the opportunity to obtain chainsaw and clearing saw licences through collaboration with the organisation Safe Forest (Säker Skog). Many members often work alone in the forest. This is an area of risk across the entire forestry sector and one where we can do more to prevent accidents.
The Safe Member initiative has led to Södra developing a toolbox with crucial tools for life-saving routines and risk assessments. The premise is that all accidents can be prevented. This work includes increased communication efforts and initiatives related to health and safety issues.
More women in leadership positions
By hiring the right people and developing our employees, we build job satisfaction and competence. Everyone in Södra should feel that they have the possibility to grow. Södra aims for 50 percent of newly appointed managers to be women by 2025. The goal is to increase long-term gender equality.
Diversity, equality and inclusion
We want to be characterised by an equal and inclusive culture where everyone feels welcome, respected and valued. We have zero tolerance for discriminatory treatment and harassment. Södra plays an active role in the Forest Sector Gender Equality Council, a national forum for dialogue and collaboration aiming for a gender-equal forest sector, and has become a member of the Diversity Charter Sweden, a network promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
