We harness the power in every tree
Climate change and biodiversity loss are two of the major environmental challenges of our time. At Södra, we take them seriously and want to be part of the solution. With ambitious targets set for 2030, we focus on climate-adapted forests, climate neutrality and sustainable use of resources. Above all, we put people at the centre. Together, we can make a difference.
Sustainability is a natural part of our daily life, but what it means changes over time. That’s why we’re constantly looking for future-proof solutions which create the greatest possible value from the forest. For the family forest owners, society at large and for every one of us. With knowledge, research and a responsive dialogue, we are building sustainable forestry for the future.
Responsibly managed forests
Ensuring that the forest you pass on to the next generation is in better shape than when you acquired it, requires both care and knowledge. In Södra there are more than 50,000 forest-owning members, each with their own goals and dreams, and that’s a strength. Together, we grow climate-adapted forests that produce renewable resources to replace fossil materials, while creating jobs, profitability and vitality in smaller communities. The forest is not just a resource, it’s a place for outdoor activities, recreation and community. For many, it’s home.
People and culture at the centre
Long-term thinking is at the heart of family forestry; a place where values are formed over generations. We want to be a natural choice for members, employees, customers and partners. Our cooperative structure gives every member an equal say, a principle that guides us and strengthens our community.
Reduced climate impact
We want to lead the transition towards a climate-neutral society while increasing our positive impact. We’re working towards net-zero emissions within the framework of Science Based Targets and looking at everything from large-scale electrification to fossil-free products and collaboration with customers.
Sustainable use of resources
With the forest as a backbone, we’re nearly self-sufficient in renewable energy and an important supplier to society at large. Demand for sustainable and recycled materials is growing rapidly. Innovative thinking and sustainable resource efficiency have already strengthened our product portfolio, but we’d like to push further. The forest and the opportunities it present are a constant source of inspiration. Add curiosity and collaboration and we have good reason to believe that the forest will help us develop more resource-efficient and climate-smart solutions for a more sustainable future.
Climate-adapted forests with rich biodiversity
The forest has always been important to people. If we want to continue taking advantage of its opportunities in the future, we must manage it responsibly with a long-term view of its value and possibilities. Every family forest estate has its own story, but the forest owners in Södra have one thing in common: a profound commitment to responsible forest management.

Södra in numbers
Find the facts in our annual and sustainability report
We report our financial results four times a year and publish our annual and sustainability report in February/March in Swedish and in English in March/April. This report provides a comprehensive view of the past year, explaining the numbers and our responsibility for the forest, the business, and the future. The report also includes financial details such as net sales, operating results, cash flow, and the Board's proposal for profit-sharing.

Families nurturing forests over generations
Our sustainable family forest estates will eventually be passed down to the next generation. The work our members do today in their forests and the way we process their products through Södra’s operations is not just for now, it’s an investment for the future. Being a family forest owner is about being a custodian - passing on a forest that is at least as good as the one they started with, a forest with a thousand possibilities.

Innovation driven by the forest
Innovation is about curiosity, courage and believing in new sustainable business opportunities, technologies and solutions that don't exist today. It involves developing sustainable business opportunities, products and processes centred around the forest. Innovative thinking and daring to try new things, backed by investment in research and development, creates solutions that add value to family forests, sustainable forestry and the green transition.
