Södra's public affairs work
Södra engages in comprehensive public affairs efforts, rooted in its statutory mission to safeguard the diverse values of the forest estate. This work is carried out through multiple channels.
At both national and EU levels, we actively participate in dialogues with authorities and institutions, contribute to government enquiries, and respond to consultations. A consistent focus throughout our public affairs work is to reinforce ownership rights and support forest owners in managing their forests with autonomy and responsibility.
Partnerships and collaboration are key to success in public affairs. Södra is a committed partner in several strategic alliances, working jointly to analyse and advocate for forestry and forest industry perspectives. These efforts span local, national and international arenas, ensuring that our sector’s voice reaches decision-makers at every level.
Business as a part of democracy
Strong and secure ownership rights are fundamental for democracy, the rule of law, and a functioning market economy. Strong and widespread ownership provides a strong society and decision-making and responsible citizens.
As an operator directly impacted by political decisions, it is essential for us to contribute to political processes – by sharing our perspectives, highlighting the implications of policy proposals, and offering constructive solutions. As a cooperative with a democratic structure, Södra naturally embraces openness, engagement, and dialogue as part of its public affairs work.
