Södra sets out to tackle waste. In this first episode, Ecotextile Talks host Philip Berman speaks to Södra’s technical product director Johannes Bogren, the founder of Accelerating Circularity Karla Magruder, circular fashion researcher and consultant Cathryn Hall, and Nicole Rycroft, who founded the environmental non-profit Canopy.

Next-generation pulp from post-consumer textiles. Ecotextile Talks speaks to Södra’s Johannes Bogren and Helena Claesson about the ‘magic’ behind its proprietary recycling process, and we also hear from Umar Chowdhury at Sateri, who already uses OnceMore, Sonja Zak at Lenzing, which is currently trialling this pulp to make branded Refibra Tencel, Karla Magruder at Accelerating Circularity along with Nicole Rycroft at the NGO Canopy.

Sourcing feedstock for textile recycling. Ecotextile Talks speaks to Södra’s Niclas Berg, whose job involves sourcing feedstock for the company's OnceMore process, Lina Wiles, head of sustainability in Sweden for Elis, which is currently Södra’s major supplier.

EPR and the EU Waste Directive. Speaking mainly to French stakeholders – given that France has had an EPR rule on textiles for a decade – we talk to Refashion, Decathlon and the Policy Hub about what the EU directive will mean for member states when they’ll have to collect textile waste separately by 2025.

Episode 5

Closing the loop with retailers and consumers. In the final episode in our five-part documentary series on textile-to-textile recycling, we get to hear from retailers Bestseller and Filippa K about how and why they are tackling the issue of circularity in their supply chains. We also take to the streets of Brighton – a city with the only elected Green party MP in the UK – to find out if shoppers really are bothered about textile circularity and sustainable fashion in general.
