Tannin, the future's tanning agent

We took a big step into a new market with an innovative tannin vegetable product for the leather processing industry. Tannin extracted from bark is a new venture for us from what is currently an untapped resource. Our tannin is a natural agent that reduces the dependence on fossil chemicals with a unique provenance from family forestry.

From bark to leather

By the end of 2026, when the investment at our Värö plant in Varbergs municipality should be completed, we will be able to supply a unique tannin from Swedish forests. With annual production equating to more than one percent of the global market for vegetable tanning agents, we will be able to supply enough forest-based tanning agent for millions of square metres of leather. Proof that every part of the tree can contribute to reducing climate impact.
