Global Pulp OnceMore® by Södra Supplier of raw material

From textile waste to new raw material

Dissolvingpulp for textile industry
In the OnceMore® process, textile waste is combined with renewable wood from Swedish forests to create pure, high-quality dissolving pulp for the textile industry. OnceMore® is one of Södra’s top priorities where we plan to make substantial investments in the coming years. Below you will see which types of textiles we are currently able to recycle and what we are looking for in a partner.

Cooperation for the environment and the textile industry

With OnceMore®, Södra is making an important contribution in the shift towards a sustainable textile industry. Just like Södra's other production processes, OnceMore® is an efficient, industrial-scale process that uses renewable wood from sustainable forestry. The development of OnceMore® is also one of our top priorities for the coming years.

OnceMore® presents a significant opportunity to make a positive impact on the environment. But we can't do this alone. Collaboration is the key to maximising the potential of OnceMore®. We are therefore interested in finding partners who can supply high volumes of textile waste for recycling.

What we are looking for

We are currently searching for white/unbleached cotton and/or polyester and cotton blends (minimum cotton content 50%). Traces of certain fibres, such as viscose and lyocell can be handled. See our material specification below. We also have the ambition to be able to handle colored textiles in the future OnceMore® process. Development work is ongoing.

Note: All textiles should be laundred and clean.

Södra is interested textiles that would have otherwise been disposed of as waste or used for energy recovery. The reclaimed textiles could either be pre-consumer or post-consumer.

  • Pre-Consumer textiles are textiles diverted from the waste stream during the manufacturing process.
  • Post-Consumer textiles are textiles generated by households or by commercial, industrial and institutional facilities in their role as end-users of the product that can no longer be used for its intended purpose.
