No announced market shutdown for Södra Timber

This decision has come about mainly due to the need to increase sawn stocks of a number of ranges and to improve the supply and logistics situation at Södra Skog.

Södra Timber has decided not to implement any market shutdown ahead of the summer. This decision means that all softwood sawmills will just be closing for the summer holidays as usual. However, it is not possible to rule out potential extensions of holiday stoppages in August at some sawmills.

"On a local level, standing stocks are low. As a result, we will be evaluating the situation in early June and deciding how we will restart the sawmills after the summer break," says Håkan Svensson, Acting CEO of Södra Timber.

Håkan Svensson emphasises the fact that demand remains weak on many of Södra Timber's markets. This decision has come about mainly due to the need to increase sawn stocks of a number of ranges and to improve the supply and logistics situation at Södra Skog.
