Södra Cell Tofte – A vital nerve in the local community

Södra’s mill in Tofte is one of Norway’s biggest producers of chemical pulp. Some 70 per cent of production goes to export, the rest to the Norwegian market. Södra Cell in Tofte is a high-technology plant and it has made substantial investments  in developing employee competence as well as in collaborating with universities.

Tofte mill became part of the Södra Group in 2000. Much of the pulp produced at Tofte is based on wood from eucalyptus and is ideal for fine paper.

Södra’s pulp mill in the Norwegian Tofte in Buskerud shire is a vital nerve in the local community. The mill is a major local employer  of substantial financial significance for the municipality. The mill also plays a very important role for Tofte’s social life with a close relationship to schools in the area. Södra is an active contributor to projects that improve conditions for children and youth in Tofte.
