Södra Cell Folla
The only Södra Cell mill producing chemi-thermomechanical pulp is in Follafoss in Verran municipality, in Norway. An advantage of this CTMP pulp is that a large proportion of the raw materials can be used in the process.
When it reaches the customer, the pulp is made into everything from milk cartons and tissue to printing paper. As CTMP pulp has good absorption abilities, it is also suitable for making products such as disposable nappies and feminine hygiene products. Folla’s pulp is sold throughout the world – from Norway to the Far East.
The mill was founded over 100 years ago as a sawmill. As early as 1909 a pulp mill was built here and production started in the current mill in 1984.
Södra bought the mill from Norske Skog in 2000.
The mill has become well known in Norway for its success in creating a good and safe working environment.
