R&D laboratory

In our R&D laboratory we run many fibre line processes such as chipping, screening, cooking and bleaching.

Chemical analysis is used to measure pulp parameters such as carbohydrates, charge, AOX and TOC, while fibre identification determines aspects such as the percentage of spruce or pine in the pulp. Our work also includes the ongoing development of analysis methods.

The R&D laboratory also performs beating and physical testing of pulp. Measured properties include fibre dimensions such as length, width, thickness and form, strength properties such as tensile strength, zero-span and tear strength, optical properties and dewatering properties (WRV). Data from these strength tests contributes to quality monitoring at the mills.
