Carry out final felling when the forest is mature

How the forest is felled impacts on its future growth. The regeneration method is influenced by how the final felling is planned. The decision on final felling should be taken to suit both the forest owner’s own goals and the owner’s financial circumstances.

Final felling is the forestry procedure that creates the most income. Today, it is taken care of systematically with modern machines and at low cost.

Södra’s environmental objectives must be fulfilled during felling. This means that consideration must be given to nature conservation. Damage to the forest floor will be minimised and the cultural environment will be protected.

Södra’s main involvement in final felling is in the choice of stands that contribute least to the forest capital. Södra also aims for variety to the intensity of forestry operations, the choice of tree species and the choice of method.
