Södra Timber, part of the Södra forestry group, is investing SEK 11.5 million in its Mönsterås sawmill to enable production of six-metre lengths.
“We’ve been seeing an increasing demand for six-metre lengths for some time now, particularly from the English market. None of our ten sawmills can currently produce this product which is why we’ve made the decision to invest in the Mönsterås mill,” says Peter Nilsson, president of Södra Timber.
The decision is a positive one for the sawmill.
“Following our cutbacks from three shifts to two as well as in our staff we’ve shown good productivity development in Mönsterås. This means that it’s a good feeling now to have made this investment decision which is positive for the development of the sawmill,” says Peter.
