Inauguration represents future for Södra Timber Mönsterås

Södra Timber Mönsterås is today inaugurating a new SEK 11.5 million investment which facilitates the production of six-meter lengths. Demand for six-meter lengths has increased, particularly in the British market. Few sawmills in Sweden are able to produce this product meaning British customers have had to turn to the Baltic States and Russia.

“The Mönsterås sawmill was inaugurated in 1999 and has faced periods of problems and cutbacks. Following major improvements in technology, organisation and marketing, the mill has come into its own and is now Södra Timber’s most productive sawmill. We’re now looking to the future and investing proactively in the Mönsterås sawmill. This investment is a manifestation of our confidence in the future,” says Peter Nilsson, president of Södra Timber.

Södra members in the local area have been invited to the inauguration. Interest has been extremely strong with 1,500 forest-owners taking part in the ceremony.
