Södra protects the right to own and farm forest

All forest-owners – our members in particular – benefit from our active involvement and lobbying in local economic policies. Forest and forest-owners are subject to many rules and regulations. Ownership and right of use to individual properties are at the core of Södra’s broad involvement in local economic policy and are key to protecting member interests in the long term. There is currently a lot of focus on issues related to conservation, infrastructure and right of ownership.

The basis of our economic policy is to protect the rights of individual forest-owners to farm their forest without complicated rules or unnecessary involvement from other parties.

The process is often run in conjunction with other forest-ownership associations and the Federation of Swedish Farmers.

Södra is working actively to:

  • Improve the profitability of southern Swedish family forestry and of individual forest estates belonging to members/owners.
  • Improve conditions for small companies and one-man forest-based businesses.
  • Highlight the national economic significance of forest owners and forestry.
