Together with our suppliers, we are working to make our transportation more efficient and reduce the effect of transportation on the environment at the same time. Södra’s environmental work does not end once the tree trunk has become skirting boards, planks or tree pulp. On the contrary, the transportation of our products to our customers plays a large and important part in Södra's environmental efforts.

Our products are delivered to customers all over the world by ship, lorry and rail. Our ambition is to limit transport emissions as much as possible, within reasonable limits, with regard to technology and profitability.

By delivering “freight free”, we can plan and control the deliveries so that they become as effective as possible – both with respect to the environment and economy. Our long-term chartered green boats which transport tree pulp use low-sulphur oil and have catalytic converters which reduce emissions of acidic sulphur oxides by more than 90 percent. We also require other contracted boats to use low-sulphur oils.
