A constantly increasing number of people want to take responsibility for our environment and that is why the demand for products from certified forests has grown substantially. Södra offers its members the opportunity to certify their forestry according FSC and PEFC. This means promoting responsible forest management, which entails promoting long-term responsible forestry.
Each certified forest owner must live up to the FSC and PEFC standards and to Södra’s Nature Preservation Policy. A contract is made with the landowner who commits to keeping the forest so persistently that animals and plants are preserved at the same time as timber is being produced. In the contract, the members also commit to obtaining a green forest management plan if the property does not already have one in place. The certification is free of charge for Södra members.
