Our members preserve the nature

Here at Södra, we put serious effort both into the production of timber and in caring for nature. Södra gets most of its timber from forests owned by private forest owners, who are members as well as owners.

Owners of forest estates safeguard other values beyond mere production. They are often also interested in recreation, wildlife preservation and nature preservation. They decide themselves as to how the forests are to be managed and they have a broad environmental perspective.

In order to support the members, we at Södra have three important tools: the green forestry plan, proper regard when felling, and forest certification according to FSC and PEFC.

The best tool for planning how to combine production and environmental concerns is the green forestry plan for the property. Forests of a high natural value can be protected either through voluntary allocations or through compensation from the state.
