Wind power

Developing Södra and finding new opportunities for the association and its members have been hallmarks of Södra’s operations since it was founded. The increasing global need for pure renewable energy has led Södra to start a completely new wind power business, Södra Vindkraft.

Efficient production of wind power requires competency and access to suitable land. Södra has built up a great deal of competence through previous investments in electricity production, primarily at its pulp mills. Suitable land for wind power is mainly dependent on wind conditions and distance to housing; conditions which Södra can meet on its own land and on numerous forest estates belonging to its members. Södra is therefore establishing wind power on its own land and on individual member properties.
