Climate change and the rising cost of energy are both threats to our operation and opportunities for Södra. That is the driving force behind our focus on energy issues.
At Södra we want to use our raw materials as efficiently as possible. This applies in particular to the use of non-renewable raw materials and energy sources.

Our strategy for the future is

• To make energy usage at Södra’s industries more efficient
• Further refine bio-fuels
• Increase the production of forestry fuels from members’ land

This means that we continue to minimise the use of oil, electricity and heat. This means that we strive to maximise production of green electricity, bio-fuels and the use of surplus energy in the form of heat spillage from our industries.
